Yesterday while I was doing blog work stuff, I had the TV on in the background and Another Day/Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis came on. I’ve been dying to see Inside Llewyn Davis and knew the music would be right up my alley. (I mean, T Bone Burnett and Marcus Mumford?!) But then a group came on to perform that made me look up from my work and take note.
According to Wikipedia, the Milk Carton Kids are an indie folk duo from Eagle Rock, California, consisting of singers and guitarists Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan, who formed the group in early 2011.
This song is the one that made me look up at the TV. The melody and harmonies were just so beautiful and wistful. I liked it even before I heard it was about New York. 🙂
This song is off their album Prologue. They had one album before, Retrospect, and a new album this year called The Ash & Clay. I definitely need to collect them all!
What do you think? Do you like the new folk revival? Any new things you’re listening to?
