I’m not ashamed to say that this face of the day with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up lipstick was inspired by a look I saw on another beauty blog. Even people obsessed with beauty products can get stuck in a rut.

That’s why Simone’s look was such a revelation for me—it reminded me of the days I actually used to wear COLOR on my EYES. And it gave me a way to ease myself back into it, and to do it again in a different, edgy way.

I may or may not intend to buy the colors she used (hey, green looks good with brown eyes!). but I immediately was reminded that, hey, I have the same liner in a gorgeous purple. And so the look was born.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up You may or may not recall that I had been dying to get MAC All Fired Up lipstick, and it was procured a while back. I loved how the bright pop of red looked with the green liner in Simone’s tutorial, so I went for a similar bright contrast in my look. (Now if only I could A) use Photoshop as well as her, B) could photograph myself as well, and C) be as gorgeous as her… But, seriously, I adore her blog. You should read it, even if you need to Google translate it!)

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up My interpretation of the look began with my recently procured By Terry Ombre Blackstar Melting Eyeshadow in Ombre Mercure. I thought it gave it a neutral base, like the shadow she chose, but with the hint of coolness to suit the colors I chose. I applied to my lid and then used a MAC 242 brush to ensure it was applied evenly. I shaded my crease a little bit with MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow, one of my most indispensable colors. I like to draw the attention up and out on my eyes to counteract the downturn. (Funny how a year ago I never even thought about it, and now I’m obsessed with it.)

Sadly, this photo does not show you the pewter gorgeousness

I used my usual Surratt Autographique Liner in Chat Noir as the liner for my upper lashline, and slightly thickened it on the outer corners, as did she. I didn’t have a kohl liner for the bottom, either black for the waterline (I think it must be a black kohl liner) or for the colored pencil, so I winged it with what I did have.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up Thus, Smashbox Fade To Black Waterproof Shadow Liner in Blackest Black went on my waterline, and Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof 30 (Eccentric Diva) (Um, my namesake color or what?)

Then the pièce de résistance, Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 7 (Diamond Black Purple) (Also, doesn’t it seem like the name of this makeup brand is like my life’s motto or something? :p ) Honestly, I’ve only ever used this on my upper lashline, and never even thought of using a liquid liner on my lower lashline, but it’s genius—it helps keep the dreaded midday eyeliner migration in check!

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up I used MAC Beet lip pencil and then All Fired Up, a bit of MAC Dame blush on my cheeks, et voilà! Gorgeousness! Merci, Simone!

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up Stay tuned for a bit more of this look and they day I had on Thursday!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear bright eyeliner like this? Do you like wearing bright colors on your eyes?

  1. I LOOOOOVE this look! It's a look I have done my own version of not too long ago and would definitely do again! I think you would also look great doing this in green the way Simone did.

    • I sometimes used a pencil under the eye, but never followed it up with liquid. It's so much more striking and doesn't disappear after a few hours. I'm definitely getting the green, too. 🙂 And I also have blue—I have to try that one out as well!
