So, today’s edition is an amalgamation of two desires, one already expressed, and one found in the course of researching a different week’s.

Delphine Manivet pour La Redoute Dress

If you remember my Wishlist Wednesday about the Mrs. Pomeranz dresses, the one that I loved the most was the Aglaya, for the shape of it. Sadly, it sold out of my size in the meantime, just when I was about to have the money for it.

And while trying to hunt down photos of Olivia Palermo for this Wishlist Wednesday, I found photos of her in this amazing dress. It just evoked Audrey to me. As does the cut of the Mrs. Pomeranz dresses. So what’s a girl to do?

Then, this morning, I was checking a favorite blog of mine, and saw Emilie in this amazing dress. The dress is a collaboration between a French designer I don’t know, Delphine Manivet, and French-based retailer La Redoute.

It looks like the black satin hybrid of the two dresses I loved. So what’s the problem? Let me count the ways…

1. I can’t wear a back cut that low, so I would have to have a tailor put in a panel, probably lace, to cover up my back.

2. The US La Redoute site has other items of this collaboration, but not this dress! I don’t understand!

3. The French site lets me register with a US address, but I’m not sure they would actually ship to the US.

4. I’m stumped as to what size I should try to get. The other clothing I have from Paris is one size, and the size chart on the site is telling me one size up. It probably won’t be possible to return it, once I order it. (If I even can.)

Alors. So. Do I give it a shot and order the size of the Delphine Manivet pour La Redoute dress the site advises me, if they’ll ship to me? Do I order the Edith dress from Mrs. Pomeranz, though I like the print less? Do I save the money for something else or for when I find a dress that is even more perfect?

And what are you wishing for this week?

  1. Sometimes I wish I had my own personal tailor who I could just show pictures of clothing I like and they would make it for me.

    • Ooooh, this is lovely!! And would solve the problem of the open back. Of course it's almost completely sold out, sigh. But I feel your pain!! Don't you hate it when that happens?!
