Well, today is my blog’s 6-month anniversary!! *pets it* When I started writing it, I wrote about how I was a failed blogger and I did wonder to myself how long I’d be able to keep this one going.
And despite starting a full-time job in the the middle of all this, I still have managed to keep up posting consistently. It hasn’t been easy, and a lot of the time, it feels like a second job. (I come home from a long day of work…to do more work…) But I’ve done it. And I’m proud and feel accomplished.
So, today’s question:
What is something that you’ve accomplished recently that you’re really proud of?
It doesn’t have to be blog-related. It can be anything. Let’s toot our own horns a bit. 🙂
It is far from being spring here, but the minute I saw Benefit Lollitint, I knew it had to be mine. I’m not one to fall for the Pantone color of the year stuff, but I just knew that the very cool, purple-y pink would work really well with my complexion.
I know that I haven’t really featured any lifestyle/life in NY posts lately. I guess that’s what happens when you get a job. With terrible hours. That’s not in Manhattan. I really haven’t done anything or gone anywhere. I didn’t even think that the area was a good place to photography my outfits, till someone told me that grungy industrial provides a good backdrop for “fashion.”
It’s no secret I love to travel. And it’s no secret I have a lot of makeup, and travel pretty high maintenance. But the bane of my traveling existence is trying to fit all my makeup brushes into cosmetics bags. I have this ONE brush that is just too long and it’s a struggle every time I travel.
I’ve thought of buying a travel brush kit, but there’s invariably something missing in one that I need. Plus, I’ve invested in high-quality brushes, so why use something inferior while traveling?
So many of my knitting friends have these beautiful rolls to house their knitting needles, and I think it’s high time I invest in a roll for my makeup brushes!
Of course, I turned to Etsy, as I do for all my craft-related needs. I found a few potentials.
I’m not ashamed to say that this face of the day with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up lipstick was inspired by a look I saw on another beauty blog. Even people obsessed with beauty products can get stuck in a rut.
That’s why Simone’s look was such a revelation for me—it reminded me of the days I actually used to wear COLOR on my EYES. And it gave me a way to ease myself back into it, and to do it again in a different, edgy way.
I may or may not intend to buy the colors she used (hey, green looks good with brown eyes!). but I immediately was reminded that, hey, I have the same liner in a gorgeous purple. And so the look was born.
You guys, I might be getting old, but I was pretty underwhelmed by Oscar fashion this year! Even the dresses that everyone else loved, even the ones that I liked, I wasn’t blown away by anything. Not really.
I really missed color! And even the dresses in color, I found the designs a bit “meh.” Sigh.
Good thing the show was hilarious enough to cure my disappointment!
