I can finally has Hakuhodo brushes! (Sorry, I promise I’ll never write that way again.) I’ve been lusting after these cult handmade Japanese makeup brushes for a while, and I finally saved up enough money to invest in my first two. Let me show you!
Today I’m introducing you to new additions to my stash—Burberry Pale Barley eyeshadow and By Terry Rouge Terrybly Carnal Attraction lipstick—that totally fall under “The Blogger Made Me Do It,” though it didn’t really take a lot of prompting. And showing you the look I wound up using both of them to achieve.
For this Wishlist Wednesday, I’m going with something a little more abstract/theoretical. We all know how much I love my red lipstick, but I’ve yet to nail down the perfect red lip eye makeup.
I know it’s very French to wear red lips with no eye makeup, just mascara, but I feel like my eye shape and features look washed out and dull without both shadow and liner. But then when I use very nude, natural colors, I feel like I need something more.
Then the other night I saw this photo of Olivia Palermo (I don’t even really know who she is or why she’s famous, but she’s gorgeous, has great style, and her boyfriendfiance is a stone fox.)
I may have played off of the, “I was unemployed for 5 months and my hair wasn’t cut for 6 months and I could use the hair treatment despite it finally being cut” angle, but hey, it worked! (No it didn’t. They must do these at random.)
And it’s true. Despite finally cutting my hair at the end of December, the very next day I was still seeing split ends. And I’m talking the kind of split ends that are so bad, you don’t realize the two strands you’re seeing are actually from one hair, because they go up so high. Most of these are on the ends of my hair that still have highlights in them, and I know the bleach damages hair, but I haven’t had it redone in over a year.

But then I saw that this month’s box was a collaboration with US Weekly. I keep seeing on the Birchbox UK and Birchbox France blogs that the often have collaboration boxes that look so cute and fun, so I thought I’d better make sure not to miss this one.
Hey gang! Something new I’m going to try is to get a discussion going around a question every week. Not unlike a poll, but I’m not providing you the answers. 🙂
This week’s question:
If you could only use one article of makeup forever more, which would you pick?
For me, it’s a toss up between mascara and lipstick. My eyes disappear without mascara, but I feel naked without lipstick. But if someone forced me to choose, I’d have to say mascara. (I could always find things to stain my lips with. 😉 )
I was thrilled when Skin&Co Roma approached me about reviewing some samples of their truffle therapy products, but also completely apprehensive about changing up a skincare regimen that had just recently repaired my skin and seemed pretty nailed down. But when an Italian skincare company making products with truffle oil offers you samples, you don’t say no!
