Wishlist Wednesday #18 – Plum Japonais by Tom Ford

Affilier

I’m so over Black Orchid by Tom Ford. My new love is Plum Japonais by Tom Ford. (Then again, I’ve always had a hard time staying true to any fragrance.) I mean, it’s still awesome. It is. But it’s very strong, and every time I wear it, my brother tells me it smells like men’s cologne.

On the other hand, the first time I wore Plum Japonais by Tom Ford, I was intoxicated. I had a sample, and for me. wearing new perfumes is always a gamble. Will it make me nauseous? It’s fair to say it did not.

FOTD: Illamasqua Neutral Palette and MAC Rebel Lipstick

Affilier Acheté

Alright, as promised, here is my face of the day look with the gorgeous Illamasqua Neutral Palette. And since it was the poll winner, I threw in MAC Rebel Lipstick for good measure. Bronze-y/gold + purple = perfection. If I do say so myself.

January 2014 Birchbox Unboxing

Affilier Acheté

New month, new January 2014 Birchbox. I finally got mine, days later than some. My post office is literally the worst.

(In case you’re not familiar with it, Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where, for just $10 a month, you receive a box full of deluxe-sized and travel-sized samples. You receive Birchbox points for every purchase you make and every review your write, which can be redeemed in their store. Get your own here.)

So, I followed through on my threat to stop making videos. (Actually, if I’m honest, that was decided by my oversleeping by an hour yesterday morning.) I’m sure you’re devastated not to watch my hack productions. (This will give me more time to hone my craft for next month?)

If you’ve read my previous unboxing posts and/or watched my videos, you know that I’ve been finding Birchbox disappointing for a while. Every month I’m THISCLOSE to canceling, and just never pull the trigger. I am not an optimist, but I guess I just WANT it to get better since I love getting my Birchbox (in theory).

Well, this month’s has not gone far to staying my hands. Especially considering one of the main things was tea. (Fine, it was a “lifestyle extra,” but still!) I got a couple of things that were, hmm, okay, cool. But only one thing that I’m like, “Yayyyyyy!!” about. Maybe my expectations are too high?

Anyway, on to the rundown!

Review: Illamasqua Neutral Palette

Affilier Acheté

I first ran across the gorgeous bronze-y, antique gold shade in the Illamasqua Neutral Palette in this post, and I pretty much decided then and there that it needed to be in my life. Then I got lured in by the Chanel Charming Palette (damn you, Lisa Eldridge [just kidding, I love you, call me]), and it drove all thoughts of the Illamasqua palette out of my head. Well, after returning the Chanel palette, I wandered over to the Illamasqua counter and righted this terrible wrong. And now this goodness is in my life.

Wishlist Wednesday #17 – Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder

Affilier

In this week’s Wishlist Wednesday, the item is not so much coveted yet unaffordable as it is coveted and somewhat frightening and baffling.

One of the banes of my existence is my chipmunk face. My cheeks go out and get rounder heading towards my jaw, making my cheekbones disappear. (I guess that at least I know I could fend off starving by storing acorns in there.)

I keep reading about contouring products that are supposed to help people like me carve out some cheekbones. Chief among them is Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium. (So I guess technically this week I’m wishing for cheekbones?)

Yes…but how do you use it?!?!

Celebrity Fashion Lust: Golden Globes Edition

Awards season is my favorite! Obviously, not for the awards themselves or the speeches, but THE DRESSES.

So here is a roundup of my favorites from this Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, in no particular order.

Apparently I’m in the minority, but I LOVED this gown. Loved how interesting it was and the colors. And I thought she looked freaking stunning. Her makeup was flawless. I want every bit of it.

P.S. See how much better my skin is looking?!

MAC Lady Danger lipstick. You knew I was going to break down and buy it, right? Well, of course. It’s such a standout color, I think, even more vibrant and attention catching than red. But I have a gorgeous look for you to incorporate it into your everyday makeup wardrobe.

I had been eying some things to try on Feel Unique for a while, and, coincidentally, they were all restocked right before their big winter sale started. I just couldn’t resist. (IT’S LIKE THEY KNEW.)

I admit I got caught up in the rush of shopping and probably snatched up a few things I shouldn’t have. Definitely impulse buys. But everything seems like a good deal when it’s on sale, even if you didn’t think you needed it before!

Let’s get to it, shall we?

Wishlist Wednesday #16 – Muji Storage

Affilier Acheté

I have always had issues with conformity. So when I see something that a lot of people have, I tend to not want to fall in line.

You can’t look at a beauty blog without seeing photos of the ubiquitous Muji storage pieces. They’re all artfully done, on the white dresser or bureau, with Diptyque candles and flowers. (Come on, they’re ALWAYS white and there are ALWAYS Diptyque candles.) It’s so bad, it makes me want to change the color of my dresser.) (Who knew I was being so ahead of the curve when I chose white as the accent color to my periwinkle walls.) And of course it makes me want to swear off Muji storage forever.

But. Guys. I’m hurting. My cosmetics are scattered around in different places, in different storage pieces, in different ROOMS, even.

I invested in a different organizer piece I saw once in a blogger’s post. This seemed like it was everything I needed. Sits on a surface. Easy access to everything. Spins. (Come on, spinning is fun!) But what you don’t realize till you get it is that, see those triangular sections, like in this photo:

h164200_202 You freaking can’t fit things in sections that shape. Not well, anyway.

So I’m back to the drawing board with storage, and Muji is calling my name… I wish it was less pricey so I could get it immediately, but for now, it’s firmly on my wishlist.

If I keep them away from any candles and flora, does it count as being antidisestablishment anyway?

Do you have an Muji storage? Do you like it? Or what do you use to store your stash?
