I know this is cheating a bit, but the question this week is:
Which of the two prizes I’m offering would you like to win? A Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm or a La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+?
Please note, these giveaways are open to US residents only, for the single reason that I brought these home from France for people to try since they are either not available or not as easily available here. I’ll have another international giveaway in the future.
Important rules and information:
- Enter via the Rafflecopter widgets below
- The prize is EITHER a Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm OR La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+. This giveaway is sponsored by SheDreamsinPerfectFrench.com and not affiliated with Nuxe or La Roche-Posay
- These giveaway is open to US residents only, except where prohibited by law
- The giveaways end at 12:00 am June 2, 2014 and one winner will be chosen randomly via Rafflecopter for each giveaway
- You can only win one giveaway. If the same winner is chosen, a second winner will be selected
- The winners will be contacted via e-mail and have 72 hours to respond in order to claim their prize. This means you need to use a valid e-mail address when entering your information in the Rafflecopter widget. In the event the winner does not respond in that time period, another winner will be chosen
- All entries will be checked for validity, so there’s no getting around any of it 😉

No, you didn’t read that wrong. 😀 I was watching the Graham Norton show last night, and he had on Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy. They were talking about the “100 hotness rankings” that had come out, and how they were ranked, and James was way, way below them in the rankings.
What order would YOU rank the guys in?
James McAvoy up to, all the way. I have adored him for forever. Then Fassy. Then Hugh. (Sorry, never been a huge Hugh fangirl!)

I’ve been foundation floundering for a while now. Currently, my skin has freaked out, possibly because it’s a different climate in New York every single freaking day, and it doesn’t know which way is up or down. It does know how to break out, though. This has posed an added challenge to my foundation needs.
So I ask you.
What is your go-to foundation?
I like my By Terry Cover-Expert Foundation, but I don’t love it. Or, it’s not my holy grail. I’m testing a sample of Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk Foundation because Karima loves it, but I’m undecided. I have a sample of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, but, eh? And I picked up By Terry Densiliss Foundation in Paris (I know, I owe you guys a haul), but I don’t think I love it as much as everyone else. And despite what I wrote, I picked up some samples of Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Foundation to test out. Verdict is still out. I guess I need to keep going!
Oh, hello. Back at home and missing France already. Walking around New York, it’s all I can do not to say, “Pardon!” when I bump into someone. But that’s not what I find myself missing most.
What are the favorite foreign customs you’ve observed and/or picked up while traveling?
For me, it’s walking into a store, finding the person in there, and saying, “Bonjour.” Not to mention the, “Merci! Au revoir!” on the way out. I know that French people have a reputation for being rude, but I find that so polite and human, if not friendly. In America, sales assistants will come up and ask you if you need help, but no one gives a fig if you walk out without saying a word. I really miss it when I get back home.
*This entry has been prescheduled to post while I am out of the country, so if you comment and I don’t reply right away, that’s why.*
This week’s question again comes from my friend Andrea, and seems fitting since I am currently traveling.
What was your best or most memorable shopping experience while traveling?
There are SO many to pick from, for me! But last year around this time when I was in Spain, I scored my Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain in Garçonne for about €23 at a random tax-free store on the street in Malaga!! (It retails for $49.50 at home.) 😀

I’m getting on a plane tonight and heading for one of my favorite cosmetics-buying countries for two weeks, and it’s left me thinking about the other products I have at home. I read recently about people who threw out makeup because they were past their expiration date, and I thought to myself, “They put expiration dates on makeup?!”
Maybe it’s something I should be more aware of, but I want to know what you think.
Do you pay attention to makeup expiration dates? Do you throw products out after they’ve “expired,” or do you keep them anyway?
Personally, the only makeup I really replace regularly is mascara. I don’t get a new one every 3 months, as they advise, but I do change that up most often. I have bags of old makeup that I don’t use (and have been looking for a place to donate to, but more on that a different time), but I find myself periodically digging into the bags and pulling out old products I haven’t used in ages and am suddenly in need of again.
I personally feel that things like powder eyeshadows and blushes don’t go bad. Lipsticks are obvious when they’re past their prime—they’re not supposed to smell and feel like crayons!—but most everything else? Nah.
Anyway, bon voyage, lovely readers! I have posts scheduled for when I’m gone, but I’m not sure how often I’ll get to reply to comments. But please leave them anyway! 😉
I am clearly already suffering from vacation brain (sorry to the people at work!), so today’s question is all about going away.
How do you choose which beauty products to bring with you? Do you pare down? Or do you wind up with too much?
Personally, I always wind up with way too much. I mean, WAY too much. It’s usually because I’m overwhelmed and can’t make decisions as to, “You will only be able to wear these 10 things,” because I never know what I’ll be in the mood for, even when I try and plan around outfits.
This time, I have a new travel cosmetics case and, ideally, I’d like to only take what fits in there. Ideally. (Normally I wind up with 3 or 4 packed to the brim smaller cases. So, wish me luck!!)
Today’s question is going to be totally self-serving, but I’m going away in two weeks and I need to bring reading material with me. So…
Have you read anything great lately that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance! 😉
Welcome to my 200th post! Funny how these milestones seem to keep happening on Sundays.
Anyway, last week 2 things happened. The first is that I had my last day at my job, and I start my new one tomorrow. (Wish me luck!)
The other is that I went for a haircut, asked for 2 inches off, since I knew my ends were still really damaged, and when all was said and done, she had taken off 6 inches. Or so. I’m still not recovered from the trauma. My long, long hair is no more. I actually choke up every time I see someone with very long hair. I’m not even joking.
(My least favorite placation is, “It’ll grow back” followed very closely by, “She didn’t cut off THAT much” [she DID], followed by, “It doesn’t look that short.” So don’t even try. I’m not saying it’s not a good cut, but that’s half a year’s growth, so it’s not JUST going to grow back any time soon. My hair hasn’t been this short in years My one friend who understood said, “It’s the first shower that’s the worst,” and it was. I almost cried. I just hate it when they take that control away from you.)
I have some OOTD posts that I’ve been saving up since I lost my photographers when I left my job, so you’ll probably see shots of my old hair interspersed with my new hair. (Then tell me it’s not that much shorter!)
So, on to this week’s question:
What big changes are going on in your life right now?
I am currently in the process of hammering out the final details of my next 2 trips (France in April, Brazil for the World Cup in June), so I was wondering what your travel plans were!
What’s your next trip you have planned? Or, where would you like it to be?
I have a guide to international beauty shopping brewing in my head, so stay tuned for that before I go away. 😉
