I was really on the fence when it came to buying the NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette. I really don’t use palettes a lot. I already have a lot of neutrals. It was getting mixed reviews in terms of the quality of the shadows. It was freaking expensive.

I have a backlog of items I’ve collected over the past month that I’ve not written about, and this set is budget-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about my spending practices. 😉 (I promise, I’m accumulating them gradually!) Up this time is NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond.
The Taupe blush is especially exciting for me, since it’s my first shot at trying my hand at contouring (trying the cheap alternative to this Wishlist Wednesday item). I mean, now that I have the brush, I need the contour!
My cheekbones are weird (just like my downturned eyes!), and they don’t have the hollow until the middle of my cheek, so I’m trying to adjust Karima’s tutorial to my own face. I’ll post some photos once I’ve started to master it and let you see how it’s going.
The Infinite Shadowstick in Almond was inspired by this post on The Beauty Department. In what feels like an endless winter, I wanted the touch of summer that look offered.
I was a bit surprised to see how warm-leaning it was in person. In the makeup look, it came off as a lot cooler and more taupe. It’s definitely a warm, amped up peachy champagne. It’s actually really lovely; I wore it yesterday and loved it, but it’s also not at all how it looked. (Come to think of it, the pencil pictured doesn’t even look like this pencil. I wonder if they actually used the Sephora version…the pencil even looks right…)
Again, I’ll have to show you how this looks on in the future. But here are some swatches:
Have you tried either of these? Or any other NYX products? They’re so affordable, it makes me want to try more!

Today I’m introducing you to new additions to my stash—Burberry Pale Barley eyeshadow and By Terry Rouge Terrybly Carnal Attraction lipstick—that totally fall under “The Blogger Made Me Do It,” though it didn’t really take a lot of prompting. And showing you the look I wound up using both of them to achieve.
Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all. Which means nothing to me except for the new products I have to review. Still, lucky me!
I was so super excited when Cult Beauty had the Topshop The Damned Collection in its winter sale. I’d been dying to get my hand on Velvet Lips in Velveteen Ribbon ever since I saw it on I Covet Thee, but I had no money to buy it at the time, and then it sold out in the US. I literally bought the collection set for just the lipstick, but it was worth it, because it’s a complete face in a bag!
Funny story: Apparently nail polish is now considered a hazardous material, and so you can no longer ship it from the UK. In fact, because of this, it wasn’t letting me make my purchase. The amazing people at Cult Beauty responded to me right away and explained the situation, and said that they would remove the nail polish from the kit and send the rest to me. Awesome.
On to the look!
I admit I got caught up in the rush of shopping and probably snatched up a few things I shouldn’t have. Definitely impulse buys. But everything seems like a good deal when it’s on sale, even if you didn’t think you needed it before!
Let’s get to it, shall we?
And, this is super dumb, but I added in an extra NARS item I wanted (again, thanks to Lisa Eldridge,) because there as a gift with a certain purchase amount, only it turns out after I ordered the offer had changed overnight and I didn’t need to buy it. But I’m not sorry. 🙂
I was turned on to Haus of Gloi by Rebecca of HelloPrettyBird when she reviewed their products, and had to immediately go out and buy some of my own to try. I am a sucker for products that smell liked baked goods. Or flowers. Or fruits. Okay, fine, good-smelling products are my weakness all around.
Haus of Gloi is a two-person owned company producing vegan bath and body products and perfume oils. Basically, if you use their stuff, you wind up wanting to eat pastries all the time, but in a good way.
