It has been a while, hasn’t it? Despite all my best intentions to return to blogging, one thing or another has gotten in the way.
And there’s so much to do to fix it up. (Damn you, Photobucket extortioners. Where did my widgets go?!)
But I was reminded by Facebook that I started this blog 4 years ago, so I felt like I needed to make a post. There will be more content, hopefully sooner than later. I’ve gotten some new indie products I’m crazy about and want to share.
So, I don’t know if anyone is still reading, but if you are…watch this space!
Oh, and so this isn’t all just content, here’s a recent photo of my hair color experimentation!
A couple of weeks ago, Birchbox, the monthly beauty box with the amazing points program,* hosted an event for their Birchbloggers at the Cynthia Rowley boutique. On display and for play was the Cynthia Rowley Spring Beauty Line. And I was one of the lucky few who won the entire collection to review.
(*In case you’re not familiar with it, Birchbox is a monthly subscription service where, for just $10 a month, you receive a box full of deluxe-sized and travel-sized samples. You receive Birchbox points for every purchase you make and every review your write, which can be redeemed in their store. For every 100 points you earn, you get $10 a full-sized product order. Get your own here.)
*This entry has been prescheduled to post while I am out of the country, so if you comment and I don’t reply right away, that’s why.*
This week’s question again comes from my friend Andrea, and seems fitting since I am currently traveling.
What was your best or most memorable shopping experience while traveling?
There are SO many to pick from, for me! But last year around this time when I was in Spain, I scored my Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain in Garçonne for about €23 at a random tax-free store on the street in Malaga!! (It retails for $49.50 at home.) 😀

It will surprise no one that I like to shop. Or that I like to travel. Or that I like to shop while I’m traveling. Since I’m heading off to France (I know, again) in a week and a half, I thought I would write up a guide with everything I’ve learned about shopping overseas.
I can’t post this OOTD without getting teary. This was back when I had my lovely photographer/friend/colleague Danielle to take photos for me. And this was back when my hair was actually long. The one thing I don’t miss is the surroundings. They may make for good fashion photos, but try working somewhere where this is all that’s around you!
It was certainly too cold to leave the office without a coat, though it was just slightly warmer—enough for me not to have to bundle into my big, black puffer coat and break out my beautiful purple coat.
A tad blurry, but I had to point out that my friend Dagmar and I found out that we both had the same sunglasses. 🙂
I know it’s a tad matchy matchy, but I actually love this outfit. Black, white, and red is one of my favorite color combinations.
Welcome to my 200th post! Funny how these milestones seem to keep happening on Sundays.
Anyway, last week 2 things happened. The first is that I had my last day at my job, and I start my new one tomorrow. (Wish me luck!)
The other is that I went for a haircut, asked for 2 inches off, since I knew my ends were still really damaged, and when all was said and done, she had taken off 6 inches. Or so. I’m still not recovered from the trauma. My long, long hair is no more. I actually choke up every time I see someone with very long hair. I’m not even joking.
(My least favorite placation is, “It’ll grow back” followed very closely by, “She didn’t cut off THAT much” [she DID], followed by, “It doesn’t look that short.” So don’t even try. I’m not saying it’s not a good cut, but that’s half a year’s growth, so it’s not JUST going to grow back any time soon. My hair hasn’t been this short in years My one friend who understood said, “It’s the first shower that’s the worst,” and it was. I almost cried. I just hate it when they take that control away from you.)
I have some OOTD posts that I’ve been saving up since I lost my photographers when I left my job, so you’ll probably see shots of my old hair interspersed with my new hair. (Then tell me it’s not that much shorter!)
So, on to this week’s question:
What big changes are going on in your life right now?
I know that I haven’t really featured any lifestyle/life in NY posts lately. I guess that’s what happens when you get a job. With terrible hours. That’s not in Manhattan. I really haven’t done anything or gone anywhere. I didn’t even think that the area was a good place to photography my outfits, till someone told me that grungy industrial provides a good backdrop for “fashion.”
I’m not sure if you know this, but I’m a little bit of a red lipstick aficionado. So with the day of hearts and flowers and red lips (gag gag gag, sorry) upcoming, I thought I would share my top red lipstick picks at every budget level (and in every formula)!
