FOTD: Make Up Store Microshadow in Cashmere

Affilier Acheté

Make Up Store Microshadow in Cashmere This is the week of haul follow-ups, it seems. And this time it’s the Make Up Store products that Karima was lovely enough to send to me. In particular, I wanted to highlight the Make Up Store Microshadow in Cashmere.

FOTD: NARSissist eyeshadow palette in the field

Affilier Acheté

At long last, I have a look for you with the NARSissist eyeshadow palette, as promised. Though I have been featuring other products, I am getting a decent amount of use out of this. It was pricey, but I think it was a good investment. (There are just so many freaking palettes out there these days, with new ones released every week. It can make your head spin.)

Mini Haul: NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond

Affilier Acheté

NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond I have a backlog of items I’ve collected over the past month that I’ve not written about, and this set is budget-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about my spending practices. 😉 (I promise, I’m accumulating them gradually!) Up this time is NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond.

The Taupe blush is especially exciting for me, since it’s my first shot at trying my hand at contouring (trying the cheap alternative to this Wishlist Wednesday item). I mean, now that I have the brush, I need the contour!

My cheekbones are weird (just like my downturned eyes!), and they don’t have the hollow until the middle of my cheek, so I’m trying to adjust Karima’s tutorial to my own face. I’ll post some photos once I’ve started to master it and let you see how it’s going.

NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond The Infinite Shadowstick in Almond was inspired by this post on The Beauty Department. In what feels like an endless winter, I wanted the touch of summer that look offered.

I was a bit surprised to see how warm-leaning it was in person. In the makeup look, it came off as a lot cooler and more taupe. It’s definitely a warm, amped up peachy champagne. It’s actually really lovely; I wore it yesterday and loved it, but it’s also not at all how it looked. (Come to think of it, the pencil pictured doesn’t even look like this pencil. I wonder if they actually used the Sephora version…the pencil even looks right…)

Again, I’ll have to show you how this looks on in the future. But here are some swatches:

Have you tried either of these? Or any other NYX products? They’re so affordable, it makes me want to try more!

Haul: Topshop The Damned Collection from Cult Beauty

Topshop The Damned Collection from Cult Beauty

I was so super excited when Cult Beauty had the Topshop The Damned Collection in its winter sale. I’d been dying to get my hand on Velvet Lips in Velveteen Ribbon ever since I saw it on I Covet Thee, but I had no money to buy it at the time, and then it sold out in the US. I literally bought the collection set for just the lipstick, but it was worth it, because it’s a complete face in a bag!

Funny story: Apparently nail polish is now considered a hazardous material, and so you can no longer ship it from the UK. In fact, because of this, it wasn’t letting me make my purchase. The amazing people at Cult Beauty responded to me right away and explained the situation, and said that they would remove the nail polish from the kit and send the rest to me. Awesome.

On to the look!

FOTD: Illamasqua Neutral Palette and MAC Rebel Lipstick

Affilier Acheté

Alright, as promised, here is my face of the day look with the gorgeous Illamasqua Neutral Palette. And since it was the poll winner, I threw in MAC Rebel Lipstick for good measure. Bronze-y/gold + purple = perfection. If I do say so myself.

I promise one day I’ll have photos somewhere besides for my backyard…

Wishlist Wednesday #17 – Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder

Affilier

In this week’s Wishlist Wednesday, the item is not so much coveted yet unaffordable as it is coveted and somewhat frightening and baffling.

One of the banes of my existence is my chipmunk face. My cheeks go out and get rounder heading towards my jaw, making my cheekbones disappear. (I guess that at least I know I could fend off starving by storing acorns in there.)

I keep reading about contouring products that are supposed to help people like me carve out some cheekbones. Chief among them is Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium. (So I guess technically this week I’m wishing for cheekbones?)
