At long last, I have a look for you with the NARSissist eyeshadow palette, as promised. Though I have been featuring other products, I am getting a decent amount of use out of this. It was pricey, but I think it was a good investment. (There are just so many freaking palettes out there these days, with new ones released every week. It can make your head spin.)
What could be better than a trip to Paris? Dressing like one of Dégas’s ballerinas in Paris! Keiko Lynn posted this photo on Instagram from her Paris jaunt, and I was immediately in love…with her skirt.
It is far from being spring here, but the minute I saw Benefit Lollitint, I knew it had to be mine. I’m not one to fall for the Pantone color of the year stuff, but I just knew that the very cool, purple-y pink would work really well with my complexion.
It’s no secret I love to travel. And it’s no secret I have a lot of makeup, and travel pretty high maintenance. But the bane of my traveling existence is trying to fit all my makeup brushes into cosmetics bags. I have this ONE brush that is just too long and it’s a struggle every time I travel.
I’ve thought of buying a travel brush kit, but there’s invariably something missing in one that I need. Plus, I’ve invested in high-quality brushes, so why use something inferior while traveling?
So many of my knitting friends have these beautiful rolls to house their knitting needles, and I think it’s high time I invest in a roll for my makeup brushes!
Of course, I turned to Etsy, as I do for all my craft-related needs. I found a few potentials.
I’m not ashamed to say that this face of the day with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner and MAC All Fired Up lipstick was inspired by a look I saw on another beauty blog. Even people obsessed with beauty products can get stuck in a rut.
That’s why Simone’s look was such a revelation for me—it reminded me of the days I actually used to wear COLOR on my EYES. And it gave me a way to ease myself back into it, and to do it again in a different, edgy way.
I may or may not intend to buy the colors she used (hey, green looks good with brown eyes!). but I immediately was reminded that, hey, I have the same liner in a gorgeous purple. And so the look was born.
For this Wishlist Wednesday, I’m going with something a little more abstract/theoretical. We all know how much I love my red lipstick, but I’ve yet to nail down the perfect red lip eye makeup.
I know it’s very French to wear red lips with no eye makeup, just mascara, but I feel like my eye shape and features look washed out and dull without both shadow and liner. But then when I use very nude, natural colors, I feel like I need something more.
Then the other night I saw this photo of Olivia Palermo (I don’t even really know who she is or why she’s famous, but she’s gorgeous, has great style, and her boyfriendfiance is a stone fox.)
I always joke that I could never be a Parisian/French woman, because I wear too much color. I so admire the minimalistic, neutral-color–wearing aesthetic that typifies Parisian style, I just don’t think I could ever pull it off long-term. (That’s why I adore reading Valentine and Naelle’s blogs, because they’re Parisians who dress however the hell they want to. 😉 )
