Celebrity Fashion Lust – Golden Globes 2015 Edition

I know, I know, that post never materialized, but you didn’t think I’d leave you hanging on the dresses?! Here’s my roundup of the celebrity fashion from the Golden Globes 2015.

From talking with people on Facebook last night, I know that some of my faves were not that popular, but, hey, this is my blog. ūüėČ

Let’s start with the good:

Celebrity Fashion Golden Globes 2015 To be honest, I didn’t even know who¬†Julia Goldani Telles¬†was, but I just knew that I ADORED the color of her dress. I felt like, overall, there was a lot of blahness on the red carpet, and this Carmen Marc Valvo grabbed me immediately. (more…)

Wishlist Wednesday #32 – Sophia Webster for J.Crew Anneka kitten heel pumps

Sophia Webster for J.Crew Anneka kitten heel pumps

HELLOOOOOOO LOVER!!

Luckily for my wallet, this week’s Wishlist Wednesday item is theoretical only. I’m not a huge J.Crew person. I love their basic tees, and I do like some clothing, but it’s so overpriced. And so I never heard about, and subsequently missed, their collaboration with British shoe designer Sophia Webster. And I missed buying these Sophia Webster for J.Crew Anneka kitten heel pumps.

My Favorite Places: Paperdolls boutique, Paris

Paperdolls

When I started this blog, I mentioned that I was going to write about some of my favorite places in the world. My recent whirlwind 23-hour visit to Paris was a great place to start, since I knew I had to pop into Paperdolls boutique, one of my favorite places in Paris.

My Surratt Beauty Experience at Barneys

Affilier Acheté

Surratt Beauty It’s been ages and ages and ages since I wrote about my desire to try out Troy Surratt’s beauty line, but shortly before I went away, the day finally came for me to head to Barneys and experience the works. I had tried a couple of the products in the line here and there, but I really wanted to immerse myself in the full Surratt Beauty experience. And oh, did I ever.

Celebrity Fashion Lust – Oscars Edition

You guys, I might be getting old, but I was pretty underwhelmed by Oscar fashion this year! Even the dresses that everyone else loved, even the ones that I liked, I wasn’t blown away by anything. Not really.

I really missed color! And even the dresses in color, I found the designs a bit “meh.” Sigh.

Good thing the show was hilarious enough to cure my disappointment!

Shani Asks You Sundays – Blog Pet Peeve

Here is this week’s question:

What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to blogs (of any kind)?

For me, my absolute biggest pet peeve is when the blogging system doesn’t notify you of replies to comments. It just drives me nuts when you can see the blogger clearly invested in a nice theme, nice design elements, is quite successful, yet if you want to know if they’ve replied to you, you must go and constantly check the entry. Grrrrrrr.

How about you?

Poll: Which blog layout style do you prefer?

Changes are going on behind the scenes at shedreamsinperfectfrench. This is going to include a change to my blog theme. Which, of course, makes me wonder about blog layouts.

I know that I definitely prefer reading some blogs over others, and so much has to do with design and layout. I want my blog to be pleasing to my readers, so I would love your input as to which blog layout style you prefer to read.

I’m kind of layout illiterate, so let me explain what I mean by the choices below with examples:

Choice 1: Continuous reading on one page
This is the style I currently have. You come to my blog, you find the latest entry, you scroll down to read (sometimes with a “read more” tag).

Choice 2: Large most recent post with thumbnail magazine layout
The most recent entry is in large at the top, and the archives appear as a grid of images below. Zoé Macaron is an example of this style.

Choice 3: Dynamic large posts with thumbnail magazine layout
A couple of most recent entries appear in a large carousel at the top, and the archives appear as a grid of images below. Gemsmaquillage is an example of this style.

Choice 4: Large main image for each post, click to read
Each post is represented by a large image, running vertically down the page. To read the entry, you click on the image. Vivianna Does Makeup is an example of this style.

Well, there’s always next year!

Do you remember how I was saying that I never have any ideas for Halloween costumes? Well, while having insomnia, in the wee early hours right after Halloween, I made a discovery that inspires me for next year. (And it actually came through another discovery I made that I’ll share with you soon.)

I present to you Face Lace.

How. Effing. Cool?! This take the masquerade mask and elevates it into the stratosphere. And there’s more!

Wishlist Wednesday #4

Number 4 already?! Time really does fly!

As I mentioned, on Friday, during our day of fun in the West Village, I was struck dumb and unable to move on, captivated by a hat in the window of Goorin Bros. I knew that if I went in and tried it on, I would fall in love. But I could not make myself walk away.

So, in I walked. Meet my new spirit animal hat, Jessica Rogers:

105-5587-RED-L01 I took a photo in it, but it came out hideous, so this is courtesy of the Goorin Bros. site.

Have you ever seen anything so divine?! I’m obviously a fan of most things retro, but this hat is just perfection. Look at that gorgeous cherry red. LOOK AT THE POLKA DOTS. And it’s only $65, which is actually really affordable for a hat like this, if you’re not unemployed. ¬†(I’m a huge fan of milliners, but they are usually waaaaaay pricey.)

I tried it on and I felt like this:

The shop is actually stacked from top to bottom with amazing hats, so if a cloche isn’t your thing, you have plenty to choose from. (Rose tried this one on. And for the record, I also totally want this one. That teal is to die for! ) They have locations in several states and a couple in Canada, but obviously there is always their handy dandy (really beautifully designed) web site¬†(where I am creating my wishlist as soon as I finish typing this!)

But if I see you walking down the street in my Jessica Rogers, this is WAR.

What are your favorite hats? What are you wishing for this week?
