OOTD: Ready for my closeup

Gratuit

*This entry has been prescheduled to post while I am out of the country, so if you comment and I don’t reply right away, that’s why.*

When you work in Long Island City and are looking for places to shoot an OOTD, your choices are pretty limited. The day these photos were taken, Danielle and I meandered over to what turned out to actually be Silvercup Studios. Luckily, no one kicked us out! Alas, I was not discovered, and am still working my day job. Le sigh.

The outfit post: Basic black sweater

I always joke that I could never be a Parisian/French woman, because I wear too much color. I so admire the minimalistic, neutral-color–wearing aesthetic that typifies Parisian style, I just don’t think I could ever pull it off long-term. (That’s why I adore reading Valentine and Naelle’s blogs, because they’re Parisians who dress however the hell they want to. 😉 )

The Search for the Perfect Red: By Terry Rouge Terrybly in Terrific Rouge

Affilier Acheté

Ever since I first tried it on in October, I’ve been dreaming of By Terry Rouge Terrybly in Terrific Rouge. (Say THAT ten times fast.) Terrible name aside, at $49 a pop, By Terry Rouge Terrybly lipsticks are an investment, even when you are employed. So it took me a while to work my way round to getting this.

And, guys? I’m in trouble. I want this formula in every color now. And I’m saying this about a lipstick, a RED lipstick, that’s not matte!

Making a statement

Statement Necklaces
Statement Necklaces by shedreamsinperfectfrench featuring Trixxi

I think it’s pretty obvious that I’m a fan of statement necklaces. (See exhibits A, B, C, D, and E.) They really are one of my main style cheats.

Because even if you’re just wearing jeans and a t-shirt, throwing on a WOW necklace pulls the whole look together and elevates it from “You didn’t try at all” to “THAT is an amazing necklace!” 😉

No earrings or small, simple earrings, and it’s just an easy, stylish look.

I actually tried on one of the necklaces in the collage above at Bendel’s this weekend, and it killed me to have to leave it there. It looked perfect with my Isabel Marant for H&M dress!

Are you a fan of statement necklaces, or do you prefer to keep it simpler?

On another note, this all leads me to details of the surprise my friend Rasha and I are cooking up for you. Among other things, Chloe & Isabel has the most amazing statement necklaces.

Two of my favorite pieces are:

N011BDMULTI-STRAND SIGNATURE TORSADE NECKLACE

N118G ART DECO CHAIN SWAG STATEMENT NECKLACE

One thing I especially love about their jewelry is that it has a really vintage feel. It also evokes Paris in its gilded and Art Deco glory. And we know how I feel about Paris. 🙂

I’m really pleased to be able to offer you the chance to purchase these gorgeous specimens, plus many more, right here on my blog! I’ll be hosting a special Chloe & Isabel popup shop all this weekend, starting at 12 am Friday and running through till midnight Sunday.

Anyone making a purchase from the sale will be entered in a raffle to win $25 off an order of $75 or more!

And, as an extra serendipitous bonus, the Chloe & Isabel Friends and Family sale is running through December 11, so you’ll be able to get everything for less!

See you back here tomorrow for the sale!

Allons-y!

It’s no secret that I love to travel. While I’ve only gone on mini adventures in the time that I’ve had this blog, my passion is traveling to Europe. But that’s hard to do when you’ve been unemployed for a while, obviously.

And, clearly, I love fashion. I mean, clearly.

Which is why I was so thrilled to receive an email about participating in the contest that Fashionchick.com is running to win a trip to Amsterdam Fashion Week!

This couldn’t be a more perfect contest for me if it tried. Despite living in New York my entire life, I have never managed to get invited to any Fashion Week events, despite how much I wanted to go. Also, I have dear, dear friends in the Netherlands, so visiting Amsterdam would hopefully give me a chance to see them after all these years.

In order to enter Fashionchick‘s contest, I had to put together an outfit that I would wear to Amsterdam Fashion Week. Or, since it sounds so much better in French, “Quelle tenue porteriez-vous pour la Amsterdam Fashion Week?”

Here’s what I came up with:
What I would wear to Amsterdam Fashion Week
What I would wear to Amsterdam Fashion Week by shedreamsinperfectfrench featuring yellow gold jewelry

I feel like my Isabel Marant pour H&M dress is a given. It’s the perfect occasion to wear it. But because the dress is so delicate and feminine, I think the rest of the outfit should add some edge.

That merlot biker jacket from Mackage is just amazing and the perfect color. Like everyone else, I have a black leather jacket, but I’ve long lusted after a wine/oxblood leather jacket, and this one looks perfect. (Yes, I know it’s in January. I’ll just throw a wool coat over it or something.)

My Calvin Klein Sable boots are elegant and edgy at the same time, a perfect counterpoint to the other two.

Rounding things out, I would love a Trixxi Chain from Liliclaspe to keep up the edge and add some sparkle.

And, as always, my Giles and Brother Railroad Spike Cuff will be on my wrist. (It has “Allons-y” engraved so that I always keep me spirit of adventure. And it’s a reference to Doctor Who.) (Well, it actually says “Allons y,” since I couldn’t get the hyphen engraved. 😉 )

What do you think of my choices? What would you wear if you were going? And can you tell Fashionchick to pick me, pretty please? 😉

Wishlist Wednesday #2

First off, just a quick update on last week’s Wishlist Wednesday: I was wrong about Valentine having the Chloé Susanna boots. In her recent post, she identified them as a very, VERY convincing imitation. Too bad they don’t have my size! Tant pis. 🙁

Today’s object of desire is by a jeweler that I have been a bit obsessed with of late, Stephie Tchamanian , whose line is called Liliclaspe. I’ve bought about 20 pieces from her in half a year, and people ALWAYS comment on it. She has style. She is a doll. And her jewelry is to die for.

Cadet Chain All kneel before the glory of the majesty of the Cadet Chain

However, again, unemployed, no money, yadda yadda. Also, this one is a bit more pricey than the other pieces I have bought. But I am obsessed with the colors of the stone. A friend recently commented to me, “You’ve really been into raw stones lately,” and she’s right. I’ve gotten a lot of druzy and rough-cut stone pieces from Liliclaspe (as well as Cleopatra’s Bling, seen here), and this would just put the feather in my cap of a collection.

Maybe it’ll still be there when I can afford it! If not, I’m just enjoying looking at it. If you head over there, send my regards!

What are you lusting after this week?
