Yves Saint Laurent Couture Palette in Couleurs 10

This may look like an odd choice, but do you see that muddy color up in the upper left hand corner? It’s muddy because it’s blue with golden shimmer and it’s BEE-YOO-TEE-FUL. You can see it better here and swatches here. I think my desire for the blue may stem from this photo of Valentine, though I’d be better off with a matte blue to recreate that look, and I’d probably pay less for it. At $60, I feel like YSL may have outpriced themselves with these new palettes. (Too bad, because it’s so prettttttty!!) (more…)

Hey guys, hope you had a good weekend. I’ve been super distracted by the huge global sports event currently occurring (no, not tennis), so I’m falling back on things I have ready to go. Sorry to repeat back to back Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Line posts, but what are you gonna do? Football calls!

Review: Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Collection

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Collection And…I’m back with my thoughts about the Cynthia Rowley Beauty Spring Collection I was so lucky to have won from Birchbox* and Birchbloggers. I’m throwing in a look with the products, to boot! (I have another FOTD to come.)

Review: Benefit They’re Real Push-up Liner

Affilier Acheté

They're Real Push-up Liner I generally try to make beauty purchases based on my own personal wants (ha, no, not needs), and not on hype. Once in a while, I succumb—just as I did for Benefit’s new They’re Real Push-up Liner.

Paris Haul: High-end edition (aka The Mother of All Hauls, part II)

Affilier Acheté

Paris haul Continuing where we left off with my Paris pharmacy haul, I now present the droolworthy Paris haul of high-end products I sold my soul for invested in. I managed to do quite a bit of damage in a very short amount of time (about an hour…this is why I had a list!). My sister was appalled impressed.

Review and FOTD: Surratt Artistique Eyeshadows

Affilier Acheté

I need to state this at the very beginning, just to make things clear because of how effusive this review is turning out: I am not being compensated at all for this post. In the slightest. I purchased all 6 shadows with my own hard-earned money. That said, I think the Surratt Artistique Eyeshadows are possibly the best eyeshadows I have every used. They’re at least up there in my top 3. (And I don’t even know what the other 2 are.)

My Surratt Beauty Experience at Barneys

Affilier Acheté

Surratt Beauty It’s been ages and ages and ages since I wrote about my desire to try out Troy Surratt’s beauty line, but shortly before I went away, the day finally came for me to head to Barneys and experience the works. I had tried a couple of the products in the line here and there, but I really wanted to immerse myself in the full Surratt Beauty experience. And oh, did I ever.

Shani Asks You Sundays – Expiration Dates

I’m getting on a plane tonight and heading for one of my favorite cosmetics-buying countries for two weeks, and it’s left me thinking about the other products I have at home. I read recently about people who threw out makeup because they were past their expiration date, and I thought to myself, “They put expiration dates on makeup?!”

Maybe it’s something I should be more aware of, but I want to know what you think.

Do you pay attention to makeup expiration dates? Do you throw products out after they’ve “expired,” or do you keep them anyway?

Personally, the only makeup I really replace regularly is mascara. I don’t get a new one every 3 months, as they advise, but I do change that up most often. I have bags of old makeup that I don’t use (and have been looking for a place to donate to, but more on that a different time), but I find myself periodically digging into the bags and pulling out old products I haven’t used in ages and am suddenly in need of again.

I personally feel that things like powder eyeshadows and blushes don’t go bad. Lipsticks are obvious when they’re past their prime—they’re not supposed to smell and feel like crayons!—but most everything else? Nah.

Anyway, bon voyage, lovely readers! I have posts scheduled for when I’m gone, but I’m not sure how often I’ll get to reply to comments. But please leave them anyway! 😉
