It’s no secret by now that I’m a huge fan of Bite Beauty. So when Sephora announced it was releasing a Bite Beauty Lip Lab Limited Release Crème Deluxe Lipstick each month, you knew I was going to cave. (more…)

I’m not too good with official blogger-y terms (can you tell I just make this stuff up as I go along?), but I’m pretty sure that today I’m bringing you an edit! Here are my favorite Autumn and Winter lipstick picks. These beauties will be gracing my lips until someone forcibly wipes them off when the thaw comes.

You may or may not know who Matt Nathanson is, but you’re a lot more likely to now than you were when I first fell in love with him and his music. He comes to mind now, because one of my favorites of his albums is called Still Waiting for Spring. It’s JUST starting to warm up a bit here in NY, but this winter has left me so chilled to the bone, I still haven’t warmed up myself.
But Matt and his music and his humor always warm my heart, so naturally I would need to share a live recording of one of his songs, because his live shows are half concert/half stand-up. And this is an old, old favorite. I hope you love it, too.
Update 4/9/14: Innarah amazingly sent me full-sized versions of the other items, so I updated the photos. They also sent a product I hadn’t tried before, so I’ll review that separately.
When last we talked about my skin, it was in excellent condition. I must have jinxed it, because shortly after writing that, I started to notice weird, bumpy pimples springing out on my upper cheeks. And a field of zits broke out on my chin and refused to go away (and they weren’t even hormonally induced!). So when someone from Innarah skin care reached out to me about trying some of their products, I knew that I had nothing to lose! (Even though I just keep thinking of Inara!!)
I know that it was just a fluke of proximity, but I received the products the day after they were mailed out. That’s unheard of. And inclined me to feel favorably towards them. BUT, would they live up to these favorable feels?
I have a backlog of items I’ve collected over the past month that I’ve not written about, and this set is budget-friendly, so you don’t have to worry about my spending practices. 😉 (I promise, I’m accumulating them gradually!) Up this time is NYX Taupe Blush and Infinite Shadowstick in Almond.
The Taupe blush is especially exciting for me, since it’s my first shot at trying my hand at contouring (trying the cheap alternative to this Wishlist Wednesday item). I mean, now that I have the brush, I need the contour!
My cheekbones are weird (just like my downturned eyes!), and they don’t have the hollow until the middle of my cheek, so I’m trying to adjust Karima’s tutorial to my own face. I’ll post some photos once I’ve started to master it and let you see how it’s going.
The Infinite Shadowstick in Almond was inspired by this post on The Beauty Department. In what feels like an endless winter, I wanted the touch of summer that look offered.
I was a bit surprised to see how warm-leaning it was in person. In the makeup look, it came off as a lot cooler and more taupe. It’s definitely a warm, amped up peachy champagne. It’s actually really lovely; I wore it yesterday and loved it, but it’s also not at all how it looked. (Come to think of it, the pencil pictured doesn’t even look like this pencil. I wonder if they actually used the Sephora version…the pencil even looks right…)
Again, I’ll have to show you how this looks on in the future. But here are some swatches:
Have you tried either of these? Or any other NYX products? They’re so affordable, it makes me want to try more!
